Eve ISK Guide – Mining Intro

There are several things you need to know about mining, and at EVE ISK Guide we are going to go through them for you. First its the mining skills, second is knowledge about the ore and lastly knowledge about the mining lasers.

Eve ISK Guide – The Mining Skills

Mining (industry skill category) is a rank 1 skill, which means its the easiest skill you can train if you have the correct attributes. For mining intelligence is secondary and memory is primary. Each level in mining gives you 5% extra mining yield from each mining laser you use.

Astrogeology (science skill category) is a rank 3 skill, which means it takes three times as long to train than the mining rank 1 skill. Its primary attributes are intelligence and memory. Similar to the mining skill it gives you a 5% extra yield per mining laser you have equipped. Additionally you need the science skill (science skill category rank 1) and mining skill at level 4 to be able to train the Astrogeology skill.

Deep core mining (industry skill category rank 6 requires mining level 5 and Astrogeology level 5). This skill is required to operate the deep core mining lasers that are used to mine the ore Mercoxit which refines for the mineral Morphite used in production of technology level two items. Deep core mining is not being used much at the moment because sufficient quantities of Morphite to satisfy present demand for Morphite can be met through normal refining of Arkonor, Spodumain and dark ochre.

Eve ISK Guide – Ore

As a rule of thumb, ores are alphabetically ordered meaning Arkonor may deliver the most expensive minerals and Veldspar are the least valuable. Exceptions from that is Spodumain and Mercoxit. Spodumain is classed below the Crokite and above the Dark Ochre. Mercoxit is a bit or an unknown, at least until demand for Morphite goes up.

Each ore has a different volume. Veldspar has a volume of 0.1 while Arkonor has a volume of 16. The volume affects the mining yield of the lasers and the amount you can carry in your cargo hold.

Eve ISK Guide – The Yield

Why do I get 420 Veldspar per mining cycle but only 140 Pyroxeres?

A normal Mining laser 1 has 40 units yield per mining cycle (1 minute). Skills affect the yield so:

Level 1 mining skill gives 5%: 40 * 1.05 = 42.

Level 4 mining skill gives 20%: 40 * 1.2 = 48.

Adding Astrogeology into the formula you get with mining level 4 and Astrogeology level 3:

40 * 1.2 *1,15 = 55,2.

The outcome of these formulas is the total amount of cubic meters you can mine. So if your yield is 48 units per minute you mine 48 m3 to your cargo hold. As you read in “the ore” you noticed that Veldspar takes up 0.1 units in volume. This refers to the amount of cargo space Veldspar takes. If you mine 48 m3 per minute and each unit of Veldspar takes 0.1 m3 your net yield of Veldspar is 480 per minute. If you are using two mining lasers you get twice as much.

Now the simple rule is to divide the total yield of your mining laser to the volume the ore takes. Arkonor with a yield of 50 is 50/16 = 3.125. And since you can not mine 0.125 units you gain a net amount of 3 Arkonor per minute. You have to yield 64m3 per minute to get 4 units of Arkonor per cycle.

Also with the advent on Mining upgrades and Rigs it is possible to fit your ship to increase the yield of your lasers.

Eve ISK Guide – How To Increase Refining Efficiency

Train up skills like ‘Refining -2% waste’ and ‘Refining Efficiency -4% waste’. You can also train up efficiency in every mineral such as ‘Veldspar Processing -5% waste’

Good standing with the stations owning corporation also increases your refining efficiency, you can raise this by running agent missions for this specific corporation.

Station equipment also affects refining efficiency to see refining equipment just click your recycle window and it will say on the left side of the screen highest station equipment is 50%

Each ore needs a certain amount to be refined for example Veldspar needs 333 of Veldspar to be refined at any one time

Eve ISK Guide – Where To Find Ore

Ores are distributed across the Eve universe by region and security rating. In fact, on the server, 0.0 space is actually 0.0 to -1.0. This information is ‘hidden’, so as to make it harder to find the rare ores which only spawn in the very low security systems, there are exceptions to this though. Asteroids contain the Ore, and asteroids can be found in Asteroid belts in most systems, if you visit an asteroid belt and there are no rocks there then the belt may well have been mined away. EVE re spawns asteroid belts in bulk so the following day it may well be replenished.

Veldspar and Scordite are overly abundant in virtually every region, even though these ores may be mined out in specific systems. Plagioclase and Omber exist in Gallente, Caldari and Minmatar space, while Amarr space is mostly devoid of these ores. Amarr space holds Kernite and Pyroxeres. Jaspet, Hemorphite and Hedbergite are very rare in systems above 0.4. The other ores are only common in 0.0 and ‘below’, meaning deeper out in 0.0 space.

Eve ISK Guide – Eve Mining Secrets

If you’re not a fan of taking risks then mining is definitely a strategy you need to look into, especially when trying to make ISK. What you need is a easy-to-follow EVE online mining guide that will reveal all the tips & tricks that top EVE gamers employ to dominate their opponents.

If you want to upgrade your weapons and ships then you need to build ISK income streams that can fund your desired enhancements for your frigates and other ships – mining is a reliable and easy ISK making scheme that can quickly build you the necessary cash.

Eve ISK Guide – Mining Tips

If your beginner your mining equipment and ships will be of cheap quality so it would be best to search and harvest the lower grade ores for starters, then when you have gathered sufficient cash you can upgrade your mining lasers to mine the higher quality ores for bigger returns on ISK profits.

Another important tip for newbies is to start clear of low level secuity systems where Pirates are likely to be lurking. The last thing you need is to have all your precious ore and potential profits being pilfered leaving you with nothing but frustrating and bankruptcy.

One rule of thumb is to stay within 0.8 to 1.0 (or even higher) this will ensure that you’ll keep your profits. When you have the enough cash and have made the weapon upgrades on your frigates then you can tackle the lower level systems and search for the more lucrative ore in the asteroid belts.

To help maximise your mining profits it is recommended to download a EVE online mining guide. These manuals contain secret strategies and proven techniques that expert EVE gamers use to make billions of ISK by mining for ores.

Eve ISK Guide – Mining Guide

Nearly everyone interested in making quick honest money in Eve is familiar with the subject of Trade routes, but specific details about good routes are hard to come by. Traders are not an overly chatty bunch when it comes to giving away their secrets, but with a little persistence, luck, and effort, an enterprising trader can discover their own routes to profit from.

Eve ISK Guide – What is a Trade Route?

A trade route is not a physical thing; it is more a relationship between two points. In the free market of EVE, the only law that governs the market is that of supply and demand. When choosing a destination for your cargo, make sure you take a look at the current going rates in different areas. It is highly likely that a supply of low grade electronic parts will fetch a really high price in an area suffering from a shortage of electronic parts.

Eve ISK Guide – Finding a Trade Route

There are a couple of ways you can find good trade routes. The easiest, and yet time consuming, way is to do a thorough market research whenever you are docked at a station. Monitor the prices being offered for goods in different areas. Quite simply, buy at low rates and sell on high demand. Your ship plays a major role in the success of running good trade routes. If it is large enough, you can make a good deal of money on even a modest margin through utilizing your time better. But with small cargo holds the best option would be to make your trips worthwhile.

Importantly, trade routes should be planned well. For instance, it is highly profitable to make the trade runs with a full cargo hold going both ways. Which means that not only should you learn what the other station needs, you should be aware of what the local demand market as well.

Eve ISK Guide – Eve Contacts

You may be able to buy and sell without being too chatty, but those who want to spread their wings and really be ’somebody’ never underestimate the value of good contacts.

The NPC stations will always have their needs and wants, but a far more lucrative market can sometimes be found catering to the needs and wants of specific corporations. Make acquaintances with as many people as you can, and try to along on good terms. Being reasonably tactful and diplomatic when required are skills not everyone can boast of. But those who can build a list of contacts, and a network of associates, will ensure a continuous and respectable profit.

Eve ISK Guide – Keeping Your Mouth Shut

The most important lesson a trader learns is discretion. In the EVE universe, trade routes are not just idle things to brag about with friends and whoever else is within hearing range. Large scale wars are fought by corporations over the control of profitable routes. There are times when even tight lipped and secretive traders get themselves in a fix when new competitors learn about your territory.

Eve ISK Guide – Eyes Wide Open

It is always important to know the level of risk you can take on a particular commodity. If you are earning low profits in a low security area, you’d be wiser to consider another profession than trading. A trader has to be smart and calculating, if you can’t match your results with the risks you take then there is no hope of your getting ahead in Eve.

It is a purely logical fact that the low security areas have a high demand, high priced market. So if you are game enough, and your ship is worthy of chancing the route, then low security areas will earn better profits than any other part of Eve. However, if you try this, it would be well advised to pay close attention to your ship’s insurance policy and your own clone. In case you do bump into a pirate, there should be some backup to keep you going without losing skills and your ship. Plus, to avoid being podded, keep a close eye on your scanner and always give yourself at least 30 km to make a safe escape from the prowling pirates.

Eve ISK Guide – Be Swift, Be Efficient

When choosing a trade route, try to make sure that your destinations are within a reasonable distance each other. The longer you take moving between points, the slower your capital will grow.

Once you are well enough established, with a safe cushion of money in the bank, you can always try putting in automated ‘buy orders’ at NPC stations where you can get a good price. This will give you time to concentrate some other interesting aspects of Eve.

Eve ISK Guide – The Right Skills
Successful traders are charmers by birth, but you can work on your skills to gain the two most significant characteristics of a thriving trader, willpower and charisma. Make sure you set these attributes high.

For the not-so-scrupulous people, the shortcut to some big ISK deals lies on the darker side of the law. Get a good grip over Underhanded Trading Practices as a skill from the very beginning and cash in later when you have made yourself.

Eve ISK Guide – Exploration, Getting Started

You first need to know the equipment needed and the skills they require. Here is a list of the equipment and the skills they require taken from one of our Eve accounts. For now the tutorial will only contain items / equipment necessary to FIND an exploration site. Not what to do once you get there…. that information is coming at a later date.

1) Eve ISK Guide – Ship

Gallente: Helios – Covert Ops ship
Skills: Covert Ops, Gallente Frigate V
For different races choose your race at Frigate V.

2) Eve ISK Guide – Equipment

Item: Covert Ops Cloaking Device II – Allows you to Warp while cloaked
Skills: Electronics V, Cloaking IV

Item: Scan Probe Launcher I – Allows for launching of scan probes.
Skills: Astrometrics I

3) Eve ISK Guide – Items – Probes (Goes into more detail later in this tutorial)

Quest Probe – Astrometrics I
Persuit – Astrometrics II
Comb – Astrometrics III
Sift – Astrometrics IV

Here are the list of signals and the type of site to expect. Read this and understand it before choosing a signal to hone in on.

UNKNOWN: Combat sites. Can be found with ANY PROBE TYPE – Can also turn out to be any type of site.
GRAVIMETRIC: Hidden asteroid belts
MAGNETOMETRIC: Archaeology/Salvage profession sites
RADAR: Hacking profession sites
LADAR: Gas Cloud sites

COMBAT: These tend to involve lots of shooting. Currently there’s very little reward in the initial sites you find, and the 0.0 ones in particular are REALLY hard. However, each combat site has a chance of escalating, which will give you a time-limited bookmark in your journal to the next site in the “escalation chain” – the journal entries are stored in the “Expeditions” tab. This site will in turn have another chance of escalating you to the next site, and so on. If you reach the “final” site in each chain, you may be rewarded with some faction loot. Also, a word of warning – leaving an expedition site before completing it may result in your expedition being terminated there and then.
UPDATE: These sites can now be found with internal sensors.

MINING: These generally have roids better than you’d expect in whatever security status (high, low, 0.0) you’re in. Some sites are better than others. Often they’ll be guarded by Rogue Drones or other pirates, and normal belt rats may spawn too. Asteroids in these sites do not respawn – once they’re gone, they’re gone

HACKING: These will have a bunch of Hacking structures in. Hacking targets look like cans in your overview, but have models that look like structures. If you try to open one, it will tell you you need proper tools. Target it and activate a Codebreaker module on it and your ship will try to hack it. If it succeeds, you can open the can and loot it. This is chance-based, so it may take several cycles to succeed. Hacking sites drop Datacores, Data Interface BPCs, Decryptors and other invention gubbins

ARCH/SAL: Short for “Archaeology/Salvage”, these generally contain some Archaeology cans and some Salvage cans. Again, they look like cans on the overview but have other modules, and tell you you need tools to open them. Generally, anything that sounds like a broken ship (eg, Derelict) needs to be salvaged, while anything that sounds like wreckage (eg, Ruins) needs to be Analyzed (archaeology). Doing a “Show Info” on a can should tell you what tools you need to access it. These sites drop lots of rig parts, the occasional T2 rig BPC and Invention skillbooks

GAS CLOUDS: These are used for Booster-related stuff

We hope this gives you a good idea of what you’ll need and what you can expect if you choose to get into exploring.

Eve ISK Guide – Industry Skill

This skill is the number one must have skill for all forms of manufacturing. This skill not only gives you the ability to build but for each level, it also reduces the amount of time it takes for items to go from minerals to finished product. While you can begin building at level 1, it is highly recommended that budding industrialists wait until level 4 before starting. Level 5 is optimum and should be a top priority in the skill training schedule.

Eve ISK Guide – Mass Production Skill

For each level this skill is trained, you are allowed +1 factory. At Level 5, you can operate 6 factories simultaneously, and thus should be one of your top skill training priorities, especially when you consider that most T1 ships take 3+ hours to build.

Eve ISK Guide – Advanced Mass Production Skill

Introduced with the release of RMR, this skill picks up where Mass Production leaves off giving you +1 factory per level. At level 5, this skill combined with Mass Production 5 will allow you to operate 11 factories simultaneously.

Eve ISK Guide – Production Efficiency Skill

Also known as PE, this skill reduces the amount of minerals it takes to build items. If you look on a blueprint original or copy, you will see under Bill of Materials a list of minerals needed to build each single run of the item. If you have any PE skill level under 5, you will also see how many minerals it will take for you to build according to your PE level. BPO vs BPC

Blueprint Originals (aka BPO) are those that have no limit to the number of production runs and can also be researched for Mineral Efficiency (ME) and Production Efficiency (PE). Right of the market BPO have 0 research done on them. To increase ME and PE, one would have to invest time in training Lab Operations Skill and Science Skill or hire someone with those skills to do the research for you. The general rule of thumb is the higher the ME the less minerals required and the higher the PE the less time it takes to build. BPC (aka blueprint copies) are limited in the number of production runs can be made before the bpc is destroyed. BPC are copies made from a BPO and thus cannot be researched. The advantages of having a BPO are you never have to worry about running out of production build blueprints and you can ME and PE research them to your preference. The disadvantage is that they vary in price range from a few thousand isk to some such as battleships costing a few billion. The disadvantage of BPC are that they are limited in how many you can build before you need to purchase a new one. How you approach purchasing BPO and BPC is up to you and your wallet.

Eve ISK Guide – RMR Factories

RMR brought a huge change to how factories are operated. When you bring up the factory screen, choose MANUFACTURING from the drop down menu. Then in the location box, choose the station you wish to build at. On the bottom half of the screen you will then see a list of factories in that station along with those that are ready (NOW) for build orders. After selecting a factory, at the bottom right hand corner of the screen you will find the install button, choose that and a small ingame popup screen will appear, where you then choose the blueprint to install, the hanger where your materials are located (input) and the hanger where you want them to be delivered (output). Special Note * when you go to choose your blueprint to install, it will show you every single blueprint that is loose in your hanger or corps hanger if you have corp hanger access. So it is best if you keep all that you are not building with at the moment stored in cargo or station cans kept in your hanger. This will save you a ton of headaches. After you have chosen your input/output, you will then choose how many runs you wish to build followed by pressing the OK button. You will then be greeted with the material and build costs quote screen where you can review how much material is needed for the build as well as how much the factory job fees with be. Fees are based on the factory job rental plus time needed and vary from job to job. After reviewing the quote screen, choose INSTALL and your build begins. Unfortunately, the factory installation screens are slow right now and sometimes appear to hang. CCP is aware of this issue and are looking into it so for now if this happens just press the button a second time and wait 30 seconds as that usually clears up the installation lag. Build status is located in the JOBS tab on the factory screen. Just choose your search and hit go and it will bring up your chosen search string. The green READY status means it is ready for pickup. Simply highlight the ready build by clicking on it in the JOBS window and in the lower right corner the DELLIEVER button will appear, choose that and your build pops out in the output hanger you specified when starting the job.

With the right skills and knowledge of basic factory operation, you will be well on your way to becoming a T1 building master. And don’t forget to train those skills to level 5, because you cannot begin T2 builds without them.

Eve Isk Guide – Pirate Hunting

Many people start out in EVE thinking they have to spend days mining ore to make money. This is not the case. Mining is the easiest and cheapest way to make some isk but there are many other ways.

In this article, you will learn about pirate hunting as a mean of income. This is a much more exciting path and often filled with danger but it’s also a lot more fun for players that like more action, but mining in deep space is still a very exciting endeavor as you run the risk of being attacked by NPCs.

While the starting ship is no power house of death-dealing, with a small investment in some cheap weapons and by using the Civilian Shield Booster you get from doing the tutorial it can be more than adequate to kill some low level pirates.

At the end of the tutorial and the first set of tutorial agent missions, a new player should have around 15,000 ISK. Take some of this cash and buy a cheap weapon. If your ship can handle the CPU and power costs, get 2 of them.

Next buy some good ammunition. Stats can be a bit overwhelming at first, but you will catch on eventually. Try to get ammo that does a good range of damage but also has a low negative range modifier. Antimatter ammo, for instance, does more damage than most other ammunitions but it has a -50% modification to range. It doesn’t matter how much damage you do if you can’t hit a target from a decent range.

Next make sure the guns and the civilian booster are mounted using the in-station, guns loaded, and extra ammo in the cargo hold; time to go hunting. The best place to start out as a new pirate killer is in 0.8 security space. Find a sector with lots of asteroid belts and patrol the belts. Most pirates in 0.8 solar systems are relatively weak and don’t travel in groups.

Make sure you have the autoscanner open and when you see a pirate right mouse click on the entry on the radar and target lock it. You can also spot them in space as small “+” signs, be sure to I. D. before you lock on to it. This can be done from the radar by double clicking on the entry there or by right mouse clicking on the “+” sign in space. Ensure that you do not lock on to innocent NPCs such as CONCORD, Navy, or Tradeships. NPC pirates also have their faction in front of their name for better identification, i.e. “Blood” Raider, “Sansha’s” Beast, “Angel” Impaler, “Serpentis” Smuggler, or “Guristas” Terrorist.

With the target identified as a hostile and locked. You can use the “orbit – X km” command to ensure you stay away from the target and shoot at it while orbiting, the X being the optimal range of your weaponry. To do this, right click on the target or the representing autoscanner line. In most cases, especially in the high security systems, players have longer weapon ranges than NPC pirates. If everything goes well, you should take very few hits and the NPC pirate should explode quickly.

Loot the cargo container. It may have something you can use, sell or recycle. Congrats on your first kill and your first bounty. The lowest level pirates are usually worth 1000 to 1500 ISK, and the loot in it can be worth twice that or even more.

As you work your way up and get better ships with better set ups, you can start to adventure down to low sec. While it is more risky the reward is much greater. In low sec you can hunt pirates with battleships, each has a bounty of about 1.5 Million ISK! So hunting pirates in low sec in Eve Online can bring you quite alot of ISK!
